Emily’s Story

A self taught artist, Inspired by nature.

Currently creating from her hometown in Newtownards, Northern Ireland, Emily was born in 1996 and has always been mesmerised by the artworld. Her love of which grew tremendously during her time at her local grammar school, where she spent most of her time in an art classroom. After her time at school, she went on to study at the Queens University Belfast.

In 2014, her piece ‘Shower Thoughts’ was selected to be displayed in the ‘Creative Peninsula’ exhibition, this was where Emily dared to begin to imagine her career as a professional artist.

Emily is fascinated by animals and the natural world, so it only natural that this is the main subject of her work. She often works in her garden; there she is inspired by the nature surrounding her home by looking across the fields and lough in front of her.

She works prominently on stretched canvases with acrylic paint, although can venture into mixed media. Her style is bold due to the dramatic colours and textures used, yet soft due to the gentle details, in particular the eyes and nose of the subject she has chosen.

Her highland cow series was noticed by ‘House and Garden Magazine’ where she featured in their ‘Up and Coming Artists’ section.

Emily is extremely passionate about her work and puts great time, effort and love into each painting. She would like to take this time to thank you for your ongoing support and for allowing her dream of venturing into the artworld to flourish.
